  Marriage is a profession in India

Dowry was negligible in ancient India, and daughters had inheritance rights. India also changed over time. Now daughters have no right over an inheritance. Only the son has the right over an inheritance. It is a custom in our India that marriage does not happen without a dowry. The daughters of poor people cannot get married due to dowry. 

I want to explain this with the help of a story that marriage has become a business in India.

It was summer. There was not even a single drop of water at Rafiq's house. Rafiq voices his daughter - Riya quickly come here ;
Mumtaz ( Rafiq's wife )  says - Riya has gone out to get water from the well.
Rafiq said - I told you that the water in the well has run out.
Without taking any water, Riya comes to the house and tells her mother that the water in the well is gone.
Rafiq calls Riya and says - Come sit here!
Rafiq Speaks - Daughter! Now you have grown up. I have thought that I should find a good relationship for you. 
Do you agree with me?
Riya says - Abbu! As you wish. I am very sure of you.
Mumtaz and Rafiq are very happy and Riya smiles.
The boy's family members come to see the girl. They talk about dowry first. It is said that motorcycles should be expensive. Rafiq was quite surprised. He thought that he would give dowry to his daughter. But the family of the boy is asking from his mouth, he was very surprised. He flatly refused and told us not to do this relationship.

• After one hour,

Seeing all this, Mumtaz, Rafiq and their daughter Riya were quite shocked and upset.

• After a week, 

Another boy's family came.
He first asked about the girl like how educated she is, would she like to work after marriage, she knows the housework.
Rafiq shocked again.
Rafiq said - are you telling the truth?
He said - Yes! Why are you asking this?
Rafiq tells everything and the boy's family starts laughing. She says that if the boy is not able to buy dowry on his own then how will he keep your daughter happy. Therefore, I hate those who take and give dowry. If you do not want to be my enemy, then you should not give dowry at all. We will give dowry to the girl.
Rafiq laughs and says. If everyone is like you, then the daughter of every poor in this world will be married and her divorce will not be due to dowry. And the tag of the marriage business will be removed from India.
The family of the girl and the boy took an oath that they will stop those who take and give dowry.
